Choosing wooden kitchen worktops the pros and cons

So you’ve decided to update your kitchen and having poured through various brochures and perused the internet you’ve decided to opt for wooden ones. But this beautiful finish can come as a cost, here are some of the pros and cons.

Pro – Wooden worktops are a design classic, they bring instant elegance to your kitchen and fit in with many kitchen styles.

Con – they are not cheap! Your wooden work top would need to be fitted by a qualified joiner and prepped and fitted to the designated area. This means you’ll have to factor this cost in hen pricing up your kitchen.

Pro- if the worktop gets damaged they can easily be sanded down and resealed making them look brand new again.

Pro – if looked after they will last forever and can be varnished in various colours to match your kitchen design.

Con –  You do have to be aware that wooden surfaces are very porous so can stain very easily, any hot or cold items can leave water marks and if their worktop is left wet it can easily become discoloured.

So it’s really worth doing your research to ensure that wooden worktops are the right choice for your home.
