Budget-friendly ways to spruce up your kitchen

There are many creative ways open to people who want to spruce up the kitchen in their property without breaking the bank. All it takes is a little bit of imagination and some hard work to totally transform what some would say is the most important room in the house.

Painting the cupboard doors is a simple way to transform the look of the kitchen especially if they are traditional pine. They may need sanding and priming before applying the finishing coats, but the final look should be amazing. Fitting new modern handles to doors and drawers will complete the transformation.

Changing the worktops in a kitchen can be costly so many people look at either painting them with a hard-wearing acrylic paint or covering them with sticky back plastic vinyl. The latter needs to ideally be of a heat resistant quality.

Patterned kitchen tiles can often look dated so one solution is to paint them with specialist tile paint. Another idea is to use self-adhesive tiles and cover up the old tiles completely.

Creating a feature wall in a kitchen is a perfect way to put your own stamp on the room and can be made either using a wallpaper of your choice or painting one wall a different colour to the rest of the kitchen. Many DIY stores have bargain baskets where you may be able to pick up one or two roles quite cheaply.
